Hill & Kehne, LLC

An attorney and insurance broker, Michael is a Founder and Partner of the firm.  Previously, Michael served as Chairman of the Marsh Environmental Practice, the world's largest insurance brokerage; and outside counsel to and Senior Vice President of TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer of Insured Fixed-Price Cleanups.  He previously practiced law at the law firm, Covington & Burling, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Michael has over 20 years of experience as a law firm partner, insurance broker, and corporate officer.  He brings these skills to issues such as environmental cleanups, brownfield redevelopment, and climate change.  Based in Washington, D.C., Hill & Kehne, LLC was created to provide clients an integrated menu of legal and insurance brokering services for complete environmental solutions. 

A Principal of the firm and broadly experienced litigator, Jeff has briefed and argued over 50 environmental and other cases on behalf of the U.S. Government and corporate clients.  He has previously provided legal counsel at the law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, and in the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel and Environmental Appellate Section. 

In his 19 years as an attorney in the federal government and private practice, Jeffrey Kehne has developed broad litigation skills and particular substantive expertise in the fields of environmental regulation, cleanup, and risk management.   

Sandy  is an environmental attorney and an ARIAS-certified reinsurance arbitrator with 29 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance business. Sandy previously worked with Mike Hill at Marsh & McLennan, where Sandy led its worldwide environmental re-insurance practice (through M&M's reinsurance subsidiary, Guy Carpenter & Co.) and Mr. Hill led M&M's worldwide environmental insurance practice (through M&M's insurance brokerage, Marsh, Inc.). Sandy also served on Marsh's Global Climate Change Group.

Sandy's experience includes reinsurance broking and underwriting, monitoring regulatory matters, drafting reinsurance contracts, and assisting start up operations. He graduated from Colorado College, received his law degree (Cum Laude) from Pace University School of Law, and received his Masters in Environmental Law (Summa Cum Laude) from Vermont Law School. Sandy also serves on the Advisory Board of Vermont Law School's Environmental Law Center.

       As Hill & Kehne's Information Officer, Kevin Saunders maintains the firm's data networking    capabilities and provides technical  
       support.  Kevin is a graduate of Columbia Union College, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Business 
       Pre-Law and Business Finance.  Kevin's experience includes four years as a Major Accounts Specialist with a commercial real 
       estate information company.  He also previously served as Congressional Correspondent at Capitol Pulse and Financial Analyst
       at Galaxy Enterprises.

       Susanne brings 14 years of experience as an environmental insurance broker, business consultant and environmental 
       engineer. Specialties include environmental financial solutions, insurance cost recovery, and environmental and business
       financial consulting as an engineer and business expert. Her experience expands into managing Insured Fixed-Price Cleanups,
       Brownfield redevelopment services, and managing environmental insurance solutions. 

       Susanne is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (MS- Environmental Engineering, 1997) and University of 
       Wisconsin - Madison (AS - Civil Engineering, 1995) and BSEd. She is an active member of numerous environmental
       professional organizations, including Women Environmental Professionals (WEP), Federation of Environmental Technologists
       (FET), and Voluntary Cleanup Programs.
